How do I start therapy?
Once you are ready to start counselling, click the 'Get Started Now' button on our services page, or click here. You can choose the therapist and available time slot that works best for you. You will be prompted to create a profile through our online booking software, JaneApp, where you can fill out necessary paperwork prior to your first session.
I've booked my first session - now what?!
Yay! Take a deep breath and give yourself a pat on the back for taking this step to look after yourself.

You can fill out an intake form through JaneApp to provide some background information for your therapist to learn a little bit more about yourself prior to your session.

If you booked a virtual session, you will receive a video link before your session begins. We recommend finding a quiet, private space with a strong wifi connection.

In person sessions are located at 536 Queens Avenue, London, Ontario. The front door of the building will be locked, so if you arrive early, feel free to wait in your car until just a few moments before your scheduled session. Your therapist will meet you at the front door and walk you up to the counselling space. Feel free to pour a warm cup of tea and settle onto our cozy couch!

Upon booking your session, you will be prompted to fill out an intake form and put a credit card on file. Your credit card will be billed after your session. You can pay via cash or e-transfer if you prefer, just let your therapist know so that we can ensure your credit card is not billed. We will not have change for cash payments.

Most extended health benefits cover the cost of Registered Social Work (MSW) and/or Registered Psychotherapy services. We will provide you with everything you need to submit to your insurance company.
What if I need to cancel or am sick?
As with most professional services, we require 24 hours notice of a cancellation or to reschedule a session, otherwise a full fee charge will apply. Your session time is set aside for you by your therapist and could be filled by another individual or couple wanting support if notice of cancellation is provided.
We understand extenuating and crisis situations may arise - these situations can be discussed with your therapist.

If you are feeling unwell and are not able to attend your in person session but do not want to miss your session, you can switch to a virtual or phone session by contacting your therapist in advance.

If you are running late, please let your therapist know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we can not guarantee your therapist will still be available. If they are, it is not guaranteed they will be able to honour your full session time as there may be another session after you.
Is your office accessible?
We regret that our office is not accessible due to the nature of it being an older building. If accessibility is a barrier, virtual and phone sessions are available.
Is there free parking on site?
Yes! There is free street parking available on William Street right beside our office location in London, Ontario.

Do you offer free 15 minute consultations?
Unpopular opinion - we don't *love* 15 minute phone consultations. Therapeutic relationships take significant time to build and it is challenging to determine that potential in only 15 minutes. Our therapists use their expertise to draw on a number of modalities that are determined in the moment in sessions depending on the nature of conversations and feel that a 15 minute consultation is not always an accurate representation of how a therapist may work with you.

That being said, if you feel as though a 15 minute consultation is imperative in determining the next step of your therapeutic journey, we would be happy to schedule a call for you!
Are your services LGBTQ+ friendly?
Of course. We recognize that not everywhere in our community feels safe for all folks. We provide a safe, judgement-free space where individuals are supported in being their most authentic selves through 2SLGBTQ+ affirmative approaches.
